It is a bit viscous and most high-end natural body care recipes ask for up to 10%. Even a smaller amount is said to result in healthier, more balanced skin. Sold as a supplement, it is valued for its high content of Gamma-linolenic acid, vitamins and minerals.
Due to its high price, this oil is not commonly used in soap making. You may, however, add a few drops at the last minute along with your Essential Oils, to create a luxuriously "super fatted" bar of soap.
Composition of Evening Primrose Oil:
- Linoleic Acid 65-75%
- Gamma-linolenic acid 9-11%
- Oleic Acid 7-10%
- Palmitic Acid 5-8%
- Stearic Acid 1-3%
- Arachidic Acid 2% max.
- Eicosenoic Acid 2% max.
- Alpha-linolenic Acid 0.5%
